St. Albans Shine the Light

Current Status:

St. Albans-area residents have begun a campaign to reduce energy use community-wide. Called "Shine the Light", the effort aims to lower energy costs for area homes and businesses by helping residents to replace 70,000 incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

"Shine the Light" is in partnership with Efficiency Vermont's campaign titled "Geographic Targeting"—an effort to direct energy efficiency efforts toward targeted geographic areas across the state to help relieve the electric load on constrained transmission and distribution systems.

As electricity demand increases, the need to take action, either to upgrade the electric transmission and distribution infrastructure or to reduce the load becomes more critical.

If successful, Geographic Targeting will demonstrate lower cost ways to accommodate growing electricity demands.

Geo-Targeted Accounts in the St. Albans Area:

The map above illustrates the Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of the the utility accounts affected by Efficiency Vermont Geo-Targeting. The points on the map are meant to represent the physical locations of the targeted accounts. Please note they may not be 100% accurate.
